Q: May we take young children with us to the
Convention?
A: No. Children, including babies, are not allowed to attend
Convention events or to reside in the residence halls. Conventioneers must
be at least 14-years old by July 25, 2008 or have completed grade 8.
Q:
What are the advantages of Convention pre-registration?
A: Pre-registration has three advantages. First, it guarantees
your registration rate until 4/1/08. Second, it delays the time for full payment
until 4/1/08 – as much as a three-month extension. Third, since there
is limited space--it guarantees you a place at the Convention.
Q:
I'm 19- or 20-years old. What are my options?
A: You can attend Convention as a Conventioneer until you
are 21-years old. Or, assuming you are not in high school, you may function
as Crew--volunteers that provide assistance in the Convention store, at recreation
events, information offices, etc. Contact YU for more information.
Q:
Can someone under 21 be a Small Group Leader (SGL)?
A: Yes, but only in extraordinary circumstances. Being a
SGL requires spiritual maturity and wisdom in addition to an ability to relate
to, listen to, and enjoy being with young people. To help ensure that SGLs
have the required spiritual maturity, YU has established a minimum age of
21.
However, if someone younger than 21 wishes to be a SGL, he/she must also include
a pastoral recommendation form (available on our website or from the YU office).
Q:
Can a Small Group Leader (SGL) live with a conventioneer?
A: No. YU believes that the best convention experience will
be obtained if young people are housed as roommates and if adults, including
SGLs, are housed as roommates. In unusual circumstances, YU will attempt to
place a young person and SGL who wish to room together in the same Small Group
- but not in the same room.
Q:
When sending in my registration form, do I need to identify a roommate?
A: No. If you do not identify a roommate, YU will select
a roommate for you. However, if you want to specify a roommate, your registration
form AND your roommate's registration form must contain each other's name.
Q:
What is the dress code?
A: Wear clothing that is both modest and in keeping with
Christian values. Leave at home clothing with bare midriffs or displaying
messages or graphics of sexual content, anti-Christian values, or which promotes
alcohol or tobacco products.
Q:
Do I need to bring linens?
A: NO, a linen package is provided. The package contains: 2 sheets, 1 blanket, a towel (you may want to bring another), soap, and a drinking cup
Q:
Should I bring a fan?
A: Although the nights are cool in Montana, you may want to bring a fan since not all residence halls are air-conditioned.
Q:
Where can I check out the facilities we will be using for the 2008 Convention?
A: Montana State University conference website has a lot of information and photos of facilities that we will be using. www.montana.edu/wwwcf
Q:
Are there any triple rooms?
A: Please choose one roommate and we will do our best to put the third person very close to you.
