General Description: Byron Center is a rural suburb of Grand Rapids. We will be staying at Friendship Christian Reformed Church, where you’ll be sleeping on carpeted floors in classrooms. Praise and worship will be held in the Youth Room each night. We also have team games every day. The Youth Room will also be open during free time where you can hang out, enjoy the snack bar or play foosball or a game of pool. Friendship CRC has a full sized gym for basketball and volleyball and a sitting area where cards and games may be played. The whole facility is air-conditioned. Our goal is to help middle schoolers to grow spiritually, have fun meeting lots of new friends and learning what SERVE is about so they want to continue when they reach high school.

Work Sites: We do painting, landscaping, inside and outside clean-up around the Byron Center area.   We work with a couple of area ministries to help us find our job sites. We also work with a local food pantry and a few other organizations in Grand Rapids.

Day Away: An afternoon at Hilton Park on Green Lake for boating, tubing, swimming, volleyball and fun. Then we go back to church for a special fun filled themed dinner.

Transportation: Registration fees do NOT include transportation to and from the sites. Each group of five or more must provide vehicle(s) and adult driver(s) (typically small group leaders) to transport an equal number of participants during the duration of the mission experience regardless of whether you fly or drive to the site. The vehicles you bring will be used to transport small groups to the work site each day, so 12-passenger vans or mini-vans are preferred. Cars do not facilitate the transportation of an entire small group in one vehicle, so please do not bring them. If you wish to bring a bus, please check with the Host Team to see if this is acceptable before you make arrangements. If your group is unable to provide van transportation, please have a youth leader call Youth Unlimited to discuss options and additional charges.

For your decision making purposes, the closest airport is Grand Rapids, MI (GRR). Please DO NOT book airfare until you have received written confirmation from Youth Unlimited that you have been placed at this site.
