How to Register: Apply through Youth Unlimited.

This is a NON-SMOKING site.

NOTE: This is not a typical SERVE experience. You will be challenged to grow in your faith, but there will not be an evening session with a speaker and worship leader.

General Description: A cross cultural experience at the Edmonton Native Healing Centre. A unique and tangible opportunity to learn about the First Peoples (First Nations, Metis, Inuit) of Canada: their history, their struggle, their traditions and their way of life. It is an eye opening experience to learn and understand who our Aboriginal people are.

The Edmonton Native Healing Centre is a ministry which operates as a drop in centre open Monday-Friday.  There are programs alongside the drop in centre to help meet the needs of the urban Aboriginal community such as food bank, clothing depot, youth program, mountain bike program, and soup and bannock. Depending on the time of season, SERVE participants will be engaged with the Aboriginal people in different capacities.

Facilities:  You will be staying with host families from local churches.

Work Sites: You will be involved with various aspects of ministry at the Edmonton Native Healing Centre.

Day Away: To be determined.

Transportation: Registration fees do NOT include transportation to and from the sites. Each group of five or more must provide vehicle(s) and adult driver(s) (typically small group leaders) to transport an equal number of participants during the duration of the mission experience regardless of whether you fly or drive to the site. The vehicles you bring will be used to transport small groups to the work site each day, so 12-passenger vans or mini-vans are preferred. Cars do not facilitate the transportation of an entire small group in one vehicle, so please do not bring them. If you wish to bring a bus, please check with the Host Team to see if this is acceptable before you make arrangements. If your group is unable to provide van transportation, please have a youth leader call Youth Unlimited to discuss options and additional charges.

For your decision making purposes, the closest airport is Edmonton International Airport. Please DO NOT book airfare until you have received written confirmation from Youth Unlimited that you have been placed at this site.
