NOTE: This is not a typical SERVE experience. You will be challenged to grow in your faith, but there will not be an evening session with a speaker and worship leader.


General Description: We will be working with Hope Haven who partners with Bethel International to distribute wheelchairs, build houses and ramps, and work with schools and orphanages throughout Guatemala.  

Work Sites:
Wheelchair distribution, food distribution, orphanage visits, drama in schools and evangelistic outreach. 

Facilities: You will stay at a local hotel in Chimaltenango, Guatemala.

Day Away: Pacific Ocean or Lake
Atitlan, souvenir shops  

Transportation: Registration fees do NOT include airfare to and from Guatemala. As an all-inclusive site, transportation will be provided for you once you arrive at the site. You are responsible for arranging your own travel to the central point of departure (It will either be Omaha, Nebraska or Houston, Texas, depending on where the majority of participants are traveling from). YU will arrange for flights from the central point of departure to Guatemala City for you and the other participants, but again the price of airfare is in addition to the registration fee. The airfare typically ranges from $750-$1,000 USD depending on availability of steeply discounted seats. Please DO NOT book airfare to the central point of departure until you have received written confirmation from Youth Unlimited that you have been placed at this site. 

Other Info: Other expenses that are not covered by YU in the registration fee include your passport application ($85 USD), inoculations/vaccinations ($100-$200 USD estimated for recommended inoculations at county or provincial health department); souvenirs (estimate $50-100 USD).
