General Description: Platte is a rural community of 1,300 people. If you have ever wondered about living in a small town, this is the place for you. You will enjoy our hometown hospitality.
Facilities: Dakota Christian School
Work Sites: You may be involved with painting, yard work or light construction. You may also work with the Native American children on the reservation doing Bible School, Sunday School or day camps.
Day Away: We'll go on "down to The River," where you’ll have opportunities for boating, swimming, skiing and tubing.
Transportation: Registration fees do NOT include transportation to and from the sites. Each group of five or more must provide vehicle(s) and adult driver(s) (typically small group leaders) to transport an equal number of participants during the duration of the mission experience regardless of whether you fly or drive to the site. The vehicles you bring will be used to transport small groups to the work site each day, so 12-passenger vans or mini-vans are preferred. Cars do not facilitate the transportation of an entire small group in one vehicle, so please do not bring them. If you wish to bring a bus, please check with the Host Team to see if this is acceptable before you make arrangements. If your group is unable to provide van transportation, please have a youth leader call Youth Unlimited to discuss options and additional charges.
For your decision making purposes, the closest airport is Sioux Falls, SD. Please DO NOT book airfare until you have received written confirmation from Youth Unlimited that you have been placed at this site.
Speaker: To be determined

What are people saying about this site?
"We had an awesome time in Platte, largely due to the fact that Kim and Kenny Lieuwen are wonderful hosts and very organized. They had a team of adults and youths who made us feel at home the minute we walked in the door. New friendships were developed and still remain. A few of our youth have even revisited Platte. I am also able to keep in touch with a couple of the kids from my small group.
God was definitely with us. There were no setbacks, everyone got along great, the whole community was welcoming, the worksites were varied and therefore made the week very interesting and challenged us.
Everything ran so smoothly and we always knew what was expected of us. The work site coordinators were able to instruct us in such a way that noone felt inadequate for the job. Lake Andes Day camp was probably the site loved by most. We were challenged and really had an opportunity to grow as we shared the love of Christ with the native children. It is my belief that these kids touched the hearts of everyone of our participants."
