 NOTE: This is not a typical SERVE experience. You will be challenged to grow in your faith, but there will not be an evening session with a speaker and worship leader.

General Description: Join Youth Unlimited in partnering with Stepping Forward Ministries to serve orphans in Romania. When you travel to Romania this summer you’ll be assisting with daily activities, sports, crafts and other camp activities at Camp Living Water, which hosts summer camps with orphan children from the capital city of Bucharest. Pending Romanian government approval, your SERVE experience will also include a visit to the orphanage to visit with the children you are working to benefit. Please be flexible as the government in Romania could cause a change in plans. 

Facilities:  You will stay in a rustic lodge-style cabin with girls upstairs and guys downstairs. The site for Camp Living Water is in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. When in Bucharest, the team will stay in an apartment

Work Sites: The team will be assisting at a camp for four days with orphaned children in the mountains. During the rest of the experience, the team will be in the city of Bucharest where mornings will be spent at an orphanage serving in various ways like crafts, playing, games and other activities to entertain the children. The afternoons will be spent experiencing the culture of Romania and learning more about this country.

Transportation: Registration fees do NOT include airfare to and from Romania. As an all-inclusive site, transportation will be provided for you once you arrive at the site. You are responsible for arranging your own travel to the central point of departure, Minneapolis, Minnesota. The group will meet in Minneapolis on Tueday, July 13 for team orientation, then travel together to Bucharest on Wednesday, July 14. YU will arrange for flights from the central point of departure to Bucharest, Romania for you and the other participants, but again the price of airfare is in addition to the registration fee. The airfare typically ranges from $1,600-$2,000 USD depending on availability of steeply discounted seats. Please DO NOT book airfare to the central point of departure until you have received written confirmation from Youth Unlimited that you have been placed at this site. 

Other Info: Other expenses that are not covered by YU in the registration fee include your passport application ($85 USD), inoculations/vaccinations ($100-$200 USD estimated for recommended inoculations at county or provincial health department); souvenirs (estimate $50-100 USD).
