Cost: Early Bird Rate by April 1: $TBD USD
Regular Rate on/after April 1: $TBD USD
Total Site Capacity: 18, including leaders
Group Size Restrictions: None
This is a NON-SMOKING site.
NOTE: This is not a typical SERVE experience. You will be challenged to grow in your faith, but there will not be an evening session with a speaker and worship leader.
General Description: We will be flying overnight to Copenhagen, Denmark and driving to Broby, Sweden with our hosts from the Broby Lutheran church. We will be serving at Huddle of Broby (Google ‘Svenska kyrkan - Kyrkostyrelsens riktade utvecklingsstöd – Huddle’ then click on translate this page) – a Christian youth center for neighborhood youth, for building Christian community and discipleship training. We will also do street evangelism teamed with local youth. We’ll get to know some teens age 14 – 15 at a camp outside of Broby where they are learning about Christianity at their month-long camp. The camp is at a lake so bring your swimming suit! We’ll update this description as we develop more details with the local host team in Broby. This SERVE will build and stretch your faith.
Facilities: We will stay at the vicarage for the Church at Broby.
Work Sites: To be determined – see General description.
Transportation: Registration fees do NOT include airfare to and from Copenhagen, Denmark (our airport destination. We will travel by bus from Copenhagen to Broby, Sweden). As an all-inclusive site, transportation will be provided for you once you arrive in Copenhagen. YU will arrange for flights from your central point of departure (New York, NY or Washington DC) to Copenhagen for you and the other participants, but again the price of airfare is in addition to the registration fee. The transportation fee (airfare) typically ranges from $965 to $1,200 USD depending on availability of steeply discounted seats. No visa is required for US and Canadian citizens. You are responsible for securing your own transportation to/from the central point of departure (TBD – either Newark, NJ or Washington DC) to meet up with the rest of the team.
Other Info: Other expenses that are not covered by YU in the registration fee include your passport application ($85 USD) and souvenirs (estimate $50-100 USD).
The SERVE Team will have about 6 conference calls starting in February to prepare for our mission experience.
