NEW CITY CHURCH -- JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY ENCOUNTER

General Description: The vision of New City is “Loving Kids for Change: Using the arts, learning and leading to invite children into the whole-life discipleship of Christ.”  To this end we plant the seeds of the gospel in children, train teenagers to be leaders, and love leaders into the Body of Christ.  Our desire is to follow a child in their development from age six to age nineteen and be an advocate, family, friend, and counselor to that child. New City is a cluster of ministries lead by both adults and teenagers committed to experiencing the Kingdom of God in the city.  It is unique in its ability to trust kids with leadership.  At New City, teens help create, manage and lead a performing arts after school center, a summer camp, a hip-hop teen church experience and many other creative ministries.  The younger children inhabit many of these ministries and grow up believing that they can accomplish and succeed like the teens around them.   Children who participate in our daily after school center not only learn mastery of an instrument, but also gain crucial academic support and the strong message that they belong to the family of a loving God.  Summer ministries include a four-week summer camp, sailing lessons and missions trips.   Interns must be attending college or have recently graduated.  Year-long and summer internships are available.  New City Kids provides housing, health insurance and a monthly stipend.
