TORONTO, ONTARIO ENCOUNTER

Special Notes: This 2 week ENCOUNTER experience is limited to two participants only. Please register early if you wish to reserve a space on this team.

General Description: You will be serving at the Lighthouse Community Centre, where you will be working with their clients who are refugees, newcomers from different backgrounds. You will also be working with their food bank clients who live in the community. The work that you do will benefit the community, the clients as well as your own life.

Facilities: You will be staying with host families from one of the local churches. Transportation from the host family to the Lighthouse Community Centre will be provided by the transit system. We will provide a Toronto Transit Commission pass in order to take the buses and subway system.

Worksites: Each summer, The Lighthouse Community Centre has two family camps. You will be helping their staff and summer student do the final preparations for one of the family camps and be involved in running the family camp. You will also be involved with the food bank that they run and help with other ministries occurring during the summer.

You will also have the opportunity to help other organizations and ministries in the city. Through these experiences, we want to show how the Lord works to reach others.

Another possibility includes assisting All Nation Christian Fellowship Church with their ministry in the community. Being an inner city ministry, there are many different opportunities for you to serve the Lord with The Lighthouse Community Centre in Toronto.

Day Away: There are plenty of opportunities for the Day Away. This will be determined based on the sight-seeing interests of the ENCOUNTER team.

Transportation: Registration fees do NOT include transportation to and from this mission experience. As an all-inclusive site, transportation will be provided for you once you arrive at the site.

For your decision making purposes, the closest airport is Pearson International Airport, Toronto.
