The Tualatin, Oregon ENCOUNTER is now an excursion site for the Calvin Seminary Facing Your Future Program. The Facing Your Future program is an imaginative exploration of ministry, theology and discerning God's call in life with outstanding high school students, pastors and seminary professors. Participants are selected through an application process. For students in grade 11 or 12. Applicants must be nominated by an adult leader (e.g. pastor, youth pastor, principal, teacher, counselor, etc.). General Description: Take “The Way of the Master” Evangelism training and then go practice it. Spend 5 days as counselors at Camp Calvin Northwest with approximately 75 middle schoolers in the Washington Cascades. Spend a week of service and witnessing including participating in a petting zoo outreach, Portland’s Saturday market, etc. A sight-seeing trip of the beautiful state of Oregon will be included.

Located south of Portland, Oregon, there are many wonderful sight-seeing opportunities in the area (Mount St. Helens, Multnomah Falls, Silver Falls, Oregon Coast…) You will be working with member and friends of our church who come from the surrounding area.

Facilities: You will stay with host families from Christ Community Church.

Worksites: You may be helping lead Vacation Bible School and/or a junior high camp along with other service project at the church and in the community.

Day Away: We usually take a day at the beach and one in the mountains, depending on how long you are here.

Transportation: Registration fees do NOT include transportation to and from this mission experience. As an all-inclusive site, transportation will be provided for you once you arrive at the site.
For your decision making purposes, the closest airport is Portland International.
