Registration fees do NOT include transportation to and from the sites. Each youth missionary group must provide vehicle(s) and adult driver(s) (typically small group leaders) to transport an equal number of youth participants during the duration of the mission experience regardless of whether you fly or drive to the site. The vehicles you bring will be used to transport small youth missionary groups to the work site each day, so 12-passenger vans or mini-vans are preferred. Cars do not facilitate the transportation of an entire small group in one vehicle, so please do not bring them. If you wish to bring a bus, please check with the Host Team to see if this is acceptable before you make arrangements. If your group is unable to provide van transportation, please have a youth leader call Youth Unlimited to discuss options and additional charges.
Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM). Please DO NOT book airfare until you have received written confirmation from Youth Unlimited that you have been placed at this site.
Fort McMurray has been called the gem of northern Alberta. Our community is populated by hard-working people who hail from all corners of the globe. Many families tell the story of how they planned to move here for just a few years but ended up falling in love with the place, set down deep roots and made Fort McMurray their home. This is a city of pioneering spirit where friends become family and opportunity abounds. The effects of the 2016 wildfire are still being felt as population numbers have not fully returned to pre-fire levels and rebuilding continues. Food Bank use and homelessness have increased. Evergreen is committed to reaching our community with the good news of Christ and SERVE will take an active part in this work. We will offer art, music and soccer camps, go into the streets to spread the love of Jesus, and continue to work on the Eden Garden Project that began with SERVE 2018. We look forward to serving God together with SERVE 2019.
