Registration fees do NOT include transportation to and from the sites. Each youth missionary group must provide vehicle(s) and adult driver(s) (typically small group leaders) to transport an equal number of youth participants during the duration of the mission experience regardless of whether you fly or drive to the site. The vehicles you bring will be used to transport small youth missionary groups to the work site each day, so 12-passenger vans or mini-vans are preferred. Cars do not facilitate the transportation of an entire small group in one vehicle, so please do not bring them. If you wish to bring a bus, please check with the Host Team to see if this is acceptable before you make arrangements. If your group is unable to provide van transportation, please have a youth leader call Youth Unlimited to discuss options and additional charges.
Bellingham International Airport (BLI), Vancouver International Airport (YVR) or Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Please DO NOT book airfare until you have received written confirmation from Youth Unlimited that you have been placed at this site.
Lynden is a small town (around 13,000 population) nestled between Mountains, Pacific Ocean, and large cities. We’ve got Mt. Baker 30 minutes east of us, the Pacific Ocean 30 minutes west of us, Seattle 2 hours south of us and Vancouver B.C. 1 hour north of us. Pretty much the best place on earth. The City of Lynden is a farming community with fields of raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, potatoes, dairy cows and beef cows. Bellingham, WA, a major city 14 miles away, is very diverse economically, with many wealthy neighborhoods but on the flip side has a large population of homeless and migrant families. Our hope is that by hosting SERVE, participants will help our church create new and lasting relationships with agencies that serve our community and families and individuals that will expand our heart for the world. We hope to inspire participants to see the world through the eyes of Jesus so that they too will be inspired to serve where they live. Our SERVE Speaker for the week will be Andrew Bright, professional comedian in The Panic Squad Improv Comedy. Whether as part of an improv show or speaking at camps and conferences, Andrew cherishes every opportunity to share Christ’s love and truth.
First Christian Reformed Church will be the host. Guys will sleep in our classrooms in our education building in the basement. Gals will sleep in our new addition youth group room that has A/C.
